Lactation Counseling
Why and How?

At Bloom Therapy Resources, Tania Rife is dual certified as a speech-language pathologist and a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC). She is uniquely trained to support infants and children with baseline or suspected feeding or swallowing disorders to successfully breastfeed or chestfeed.
Tania offers support in the prenatal and postnatal phase to support families whose goal it is to breastfeed or chestfeed. In the prenatal phase, Tania offers clinical breastfeeding counseling and management support to families who are thinking about breastfeeding and chestfeeding by providing training and education. In the postnatal phase, she can support families who have questions or problems during the course of breastfeeding and chestfeeding. She also provides education and support for pumping and returning to work.
Breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and lactation are natural but that doesn’t mean that it is an easy process for everyone. Tania can counsel families who have questions, challenges or concerns to troubleshoot and formulate a plan. She is happy to collaborate and coordinate care with other healthcare providers.

What You Can Expect
Our dually certified therapist will assess the entire breastfeeding and chestfeeding process from start to finish in our clinic, the privacy of your home, or virtually. We support the infant as well as the caregiver during the feeding process and troubleshoot any difficulties with latch and positioning. Our therapist uses sensitive scales to determine pre and post feeding weights to evaluate the amount your baby is receiving.
